Welcome to the CASC E Newsletter
We would like to welcome you to the first issue of our E Newsletter. The newsletter will be published on a bi-monthly basis and each edition will provide you with an update of our work and information on key developments in the world of clinical audit. The newsletter is available in a range of formats and if your email will not support you to access the content directly, you can read each issue via our website. We intend to make the newsletter an interactive resource, so if you would like to submit an article or for us to feature the work that you are undertaking or an event that you are organising, please email us at email@example.com
CASC accredited by National Open College Network
At the start of 2007, we attained approved provider status from the National Open College Network (NOCN). The NOCN accredit organisations and training courses for adult learners and they rigorously assess our work to ensure that it is of the highest standard. By working in partnership with NOCN we have developed a range of accredited training qualifications in clinical audit and significant event audit and these are now available to healthcare staff. Our distance learning qualification is ideal for those who need to fit learning into their already busy lives and our advanced course is proving popular and we are now taking bookings for the next day in Leicester on 17th April.
National Audit Conference 2007
The National Audit Conference took place in London from 6-7 February. Stephen and Tracy delivered an interactive workshop and took part in an entertaining debate on the value of national audits which ended in a tie. As in keeping with previous events the conference was a mixture of keynote speakers and smaller workshops. Excellent sessions included Christine Johnson’s workshop on patient safety and Bristol’s overview of how their audit team has recently been re-structured. The photo shows Tracy with John Calvert from Northamptonshire, who won our members prize draw and claimed his free place at the conference.
In January 2007, the National Audit Office published their report looking at the delivery of Clinical Governance in Primary Care entitled “Improving Quality and Safety: Progress in Implementing Clinical Governance in Primary Care”. The report contains important findings relating to clinical audit and includes a case study on the excellent work carried out by Gloucestershire PCCAG. If you would like to find out more, visit the NAO website to read the document in full or take a look at the summary on our website.
Plaudits for Audit
Since opening for business in September 2006, Tracy and Stephen have delivered a wide range of workshops and keynote speeches at national conferences and local events, including - National Clinical Audit in Manchester (September), CPHVA conference (October), Yorkshire Clinical Effectiveness conference in Harrogate (November), NBS/UKT conference (November) and Clinical Audit 2007 (February). We particularly enjoyed the CPHVA conference in Harrogate and are delighted to have been asked to deliver more training for community staff at their forthcoming annual conference in Torquay. If you require a speaker to talk about clinical audit, please contact us.
