Overview

Members of the CASC can provide a wide range of support in clinical audit and quality improvement projects. Whether you are a large NHS Trust that require strategic support setting up a major new initiative such as involving patients in clinical audit or you are a small independent Community Pharmacist struggling to deliver a valid audit as part of your new contractual requirements, we can help you.

Our skills and expertise in clinical audit are diverse and we recommend that you contact us directly so that we can discuss your precise needs and ensure that the support we deliver exactly fits your requirements. We aim to deliver support that is cost effective and promise that if you work with us we will provide a named lead who will work exclusively with you. CASC promise that you will work with the same CASC staff member/s throughout the duration of the project. We also provide support and aftercare and will follow up all initiatives three months after completion of any work that we undertake to check on customer satisfaction.

‘A Practical Handbook for Clinical Audit’ references a self-assessment tool for clinical audit departments that was developed by Martin Ferris (South Yorkshire Strategic Health Authority). As part of services provided by CASC we will be able to assist organisations to meet these criteria.

Clinical Audit Review

The CASC team will visit you and examine current strategies and structures for clinical audit. We will identify strengths and weaknesses and develop a comprehensive action plan to help establish a more effective approach to clinical audit within your organisation.

Strategic support in clinical audit

As part of the self-assessment tool all organisations should have implemented a comprehensive clinical audit strategy. This strategy should include approaches for delivering audit training, multi-professional audit, interface audit and the involvement of patients in audit. We can advise on the implementation of all these elements.

In addition to helping your organisation meet the self-assessment requirements we can also provide the following support:

Support devising clinical audit projects

CASC can provide your organisation with setting up large-scale audits, multi-disciplinary audits as well as small scale local audits that will improve service delivery and patient care.

Critiquing clinical audit projects

Principles for Best Practice identified that some clinical audit projects frequently lose momentum and are therefore never completed. If you have an audit project that has stalled we may be able to help to reinvigorate it!

Supporting individual parts of a clinical audit process

If you need help and advice on an individual part of the audit cycle such as topic selection, devising criteria and standards, developing a data collection process, support with report writing etc we will be able to assist you.

Further services include:
